4th August 1939 First Flight Postcard, First direct Transatlantic Air Service, Flown by Imperial Airways Ltd & Pan American Airways Ltd, A "Round the World " Postcard, Birmingham Cancel. Faint Tuia 26th August 1939, Handsworth Birmingham 23rd October 1939. Not Backstamped. The sender was attempting to have a "round the World" postcard sent by air. The initial service to New York by Imperial Airways Flying Boat "Caribou" then Pan American Airways Clipper to New Zealand, via San Francisco & Honolulu. Then supposedly by Imperial Airways from New Zealand to UK. The Air fee to the US is correct. However, the New Zealand postage does not cover the airmail fee, and the card was probably returned by Surface mail (Sea) to the UK. Still a round the world postcard though ,just a bit slower! Rare and in good condition.
